Festival “Dnipropetrovsk autumn”

From 14 to 22 September in the premises of the CDC Dnepropress (Dnepropetrovsk, Ermolova str., 35) hosted the second international chess festival “Dnipropetrovsk autumn” to the memory of grandmaster S. A. Frost. The organizer of the festival was the Dnepropetrovsk regional Federation of chess.

In four tournaments of the festival was attended by nearly 400 participants from 8 countries. Among the participants of major tournaments – 16 international grandmasters and as many international artists. The chief justice of the festival Oleg Tochigi (Kyiv) noted that the festival is the biggest chess event in Ukraine in the current year. The qualification structure, and the age range of participants was very wide – from toddlers to five-year gray-haired veterans, from beginners to grandmasters and masters. All the tournaments of the festival saw an intense battle for cash prizes, and only the last round put winners on the field.

In the women’s grandmaster tournament the strongest girls fought for the implementation of the norms of international master and international grandmaster. In it was confidently won by international master Maria Fominykh (Russia) scored 7 points out of 9. This result is consistent with the GM norm, Mary second. At one point her behind international grandmaster Eugene Dolukhanova, before the tournament returned to the Ukrainian Federation of Armenian, third place international grandmaster Olga Kalinina, who lost Dolukhanova only factor.

In the men’s open B, which had the status of the open championship of Dnipropetrovsk region, was the first international master Vitaly Sivok from Nikolaev – 7½ points from 9. In a large division 2-8 places additional indicators have placed players in the following way: 2. mg A. Barishpoletz (Kiev), 3. mm I. Golichenko (Kiev), 4. mg D. Kononenko (Dnepropetrovsk), 5. mm S. Bogdanovich (Odessa), 6. mg Yu Solodovnikova (Kherson), 7. mg A. Zubov (Nikolaev), 8. mg A. Zubarev (Zaporozhye). They scored 7 points. Ninth place with a lag of half a point by the index took mg V. Borovikov (Dnepropetrovsk). The third result among Dnipropetrovsk players showed Evgeny Eliseev, pupil of G. Gutman, the Director of the festival.

In the children’s Cup tournament ACF “chess for Children” the first three prize-winners in addition to cash prizes also received from the all-Ukrainian charity Foundation “chess for Children” beautiful cups and prizes – two tablets and e-book. Awarding prizes to the children’s tournament held Chairman of the Board of Fund “chess for Children”, international master Elena bojcun. Their owners were: 1. Yaremenko Novel (Mirgorod), 2. Potapova Margarita (Crimea), 3. Viktorov Jaroslav (Energodar). Among girls after M. Potapova Anastasia steel Mukhtarov (Simferopol) and six-year-old Anastasia Dubovik, scoring 6 points out of 9 performed the first discharge, which in itself is a huge success, which rightly divides her coach, the Director of DYUSSH-9 I. Timoshenko.
